Earlier
this month, Michael joined Sammy Hagar and The Wabos on stage
at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
After
laying down the bass on a smattering of VH tunes mid-way through
the show, Michael returned to the stage for an encore and
brought along a couple of his friends to join in on the party!
- namely, The Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and the one
and only Joe Satriani.
The
hard rockin' quartet then proceeded to tear it up even more
as they blazed their way through "Mr. Fantasy,"
"Goin' Down," and an extended version of "Rock
and Roll."
Another NAMM has
come and gone and we've got the pictures to prove it!
Michael
was on hand to sign autographs for hundreds of fans at the
Ampeg and Dean Markley booths on January 17 before jetting
over to the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction in Scottsdale, AZ
to check out all the killer rods and sweet rides up on the
auction block.
Now
back home and taking a short break, Michael is gearing up
to join Sammy Hagar and the Wabos for a Vegas concert at the
Palms Casino on February 2nd. Stay tuned for more details
and in the mean time, check out the NAMM 2008 photo gallery

HAVING
A BLAST ON THE ROAD!
POSTED: 11/01/07
"We're having a blast out here on the road and I just
wanted to give a shout out to everyone that's been rocking
the shows with us. Last night we played a halloween bash in
South Bend, IN and tore the roof off the place! I'm looking
forward to our next stop on the tour when we play in Detroit.
The Mad Anthony Xpress is coming to party!" - Michael
Anthony
The
Mad Anthony Xpress popped on down to Cabo for the last two
shows of Sammy Hagar's 2007 Birthday Bash October 12-13 where
they played to a packed house on both nights. The set list
included such VH classics as "Light Up the Sky,"
"Little Dreamer" and "Atomic Punk," as
well as some other favorites including "The Immigrant
Song," "Waitin' For the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago."
Michael
also jammed with a few of his good buddies throughout the
two-day stint including RHCP's Chad Smith, Ted Nugent and
Toby Keith.
"We
were in Cabo to rock Sammy's 6.0 birthday bash and it was
probably the craziest and most packed I've ever seen the Cabo
Wabo during his birthday. Now it's time to take this big beach
party on the road! We can't wait to see you all out there!"
If
you've got some skills with the camera and want to see you
name up in lights, send us your best shots from the Bash and
we'll add our favorites to the Photo Gallery.

MAD
ANTHONY RECIPE CONTEST
POSTED: 6/16/07
UPDATED: 6/21/07
The official start of summer is just about a week away and
that means it's time to dust off the barbecues and get ready
to party! And, since we haven't had any giveaways in a while,
we thought what better way to ring in June 21 than announce
a new contest for all you backyard grilling professionals
and hot sauce lovers alike?
So
let us ask you, have you created a home-made recipe using
Mad Anthony's hot sauces, BBQ sauces or hot mustard? Doesn't
matter if it's just adding your own tweaks to our Original
Style BBQ Sauce for that extra boost on the barbecue or an
entire dish incorporating our new XXXTra Hot Private Reserve
for the big family dinner - our esteemed panel of judges will
make and taste each recipe received and once a week, the favorites
will be posted on our Wall of Fame for all to enjoy. The contest
will run until Labor Day where we'll pick the "Best of
Show" recipe and 5 runners-up to receive some cool stuff
from past tours.
Michael
will be back in Lake Tahoe for one giant show with the Red
Rocker, the Mad Anthony Express and maybe even Los Tres Gusanos
on Sunday June 17 at Harvey's Outdoor Arena in South Lake
Tahoe, NV.
The
show is a make-up show for the canceled annual Cinco de Mayo
celebration earlier this month.
We
expect it to be one hell of a rock and roll one night stand!
Also, check out some additional shots from the free Mad Anthony
Express show on May 5, courtesy of Kurtis Rix.
THE
MAD ANTHONY EXPRESS BARRELS THROUGH TAHOE!
POSTED: 5/09/07
The
Red Rocker Room at the Tahoe Wabo was packed to the gills
for the mother of all Cinco de Mayo celebrations last Saturday
night as Michael, Hagar guitarist Vic Johnson and drummer
John Douglas, aka, The Mad Anthony Express, treated a standing
room only crowd to a blistering set of Van Halen, ZZ Top,
Led Zeppelin and Montrose cover tunes!
Not
wanting to disappoint the thousands of fans who'd made the
trek to Tahoe for Hagar's annual Cinco de Mayo bash only to
learn the shows had been postponed due to the Red Rocker being
ill, The Mad Anthony Express quickly organized a free show
at the club.
Rabid
fans were packed into every square inch of the main room as
well as two adjoining rooms, as they elbowed, punched and shoved
their way in, around and on top of each other, all trying
to get as close to the action as possible while simultaneously
creating the world's largest human sardine can! The Fire Marshall
would have had a coronary had he been on hand and fortunately
for him, it was so crowded in there, he'd have never made
it more than five feet past the front door!
The
set list included "Atomic Punk," "Runnin' With
the Devil," "The Immigrant Song," "Waiting
for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago," "Ain't Talkin'
'bout Love," "All Right Now," "Beer Drinkers
and Hell Raisers,"
; "Rock Candy," "Bad
Motor Scooter," "Little Dreamer," "Goin'
Down," "D.O.A.," and "I'm The One."
MICHAEL
PERFORMS AT RECORDING ACADEMY HONORS
POSTED: 5/09/07
Michael
joined Ronnie Montrose, Eric Martin and David Lauser to perform
"Rock Candy" and "Eagles Fly" at the Recording
Academy Honors Gala on Sunday April 29 at the Westin St. Francis
Hotel in San Francisco, CA. The performance was a tribute
to Sammy Hagar who was honored along with Linda Perry and
Narada Michael Walden.
SIX-STRING
MASTERPIECES MEMORIAL TRIBUTE
POSTED: 5/01/07
Michael
is among a plethora of musicians and artists including Billy
F. Gibbons, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Dave Grohl, Rob
Zombie, Sammy Hagar, Ace Frehley, Slash, Zakk Wylde, Joe Satriani
and Kelly Clarkson, all of whom have lent their creative talents
to custom paint more than 60 guitars that will be auctioned
off as part of a memorial tribute, auction and benefit concert
honoring the late "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.
All
proceeds from the event go to LITTLE
KIDS ROCK - a non-profit music education program that
provides free instruments and rock & roll lessons to public
schools.
Michael
and his daughter Elisha painted this guitar for the auction
which is open for bids until May 17th, 2007:
"I
just wanted to throw up a little post about last week and
how great it was!! First of all i want to again thank all
of you on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction! It was
a nite I will NEVER forget. Sam and I had a great time. It
obviously would have been perfect under better circumstances,
but none the less it was an honor to be a part of it.
On
Wed. after the induction ceremony, I flew to Puerto Vallerta
to meet the cruise ship headed for Cabo. That nite Vic Johnson,
Dave Lauser and myself played a two hour set of some of our
favorites, including some "old" VH stuff. I can't
remember the last time I sang lead vocals for that long...It
was GREAT!! Sammy and I finished it off with a noon time show
at the Cabo Wabo on Fri. the 16th. A big THANK-YOU to everyone
who was there and on the ship!!"
Michael
and Sammy were on hand at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Awards
Ceremony in New York on March 12 as Van Halen was bestowed
with rock and roll's highest honor.
Michael
is currently winding down the 2nd Annual Cabo Wabo Cruise
with Sammy and the Wabos. Watch for a full report after their
return to the mainland next week.
Mad
Anthony's XXXTra Hot Private Reserve is now available
in Mad Anthony's
Online Store! If you like it REALLYHOT, our new
Private Reserve Hot Sauce is just the ticket. Don't forget
to have the Fire Dept. on speed dial!
Last
Friday night, Michael was on hand at the Petersen Automotive
Museum in Los Angeles where he jammed a set of down home blues
standards with fellow hot rod enthusiasts Jeff Beck, Billy
F. Gibbons and Jimmie Vaughn as part of "Deuce Week"
- a six-day celebration of the 75th anniversary of the 1932
Ford Deuce and the biggest party ever thrown in honor of the
Deuce, the "Deuce Week" Gala.
Tearing
it up to a standing room only crowd of 1,200 gearheads and
rockers, the jam concluded a fundraising event and auction
for the museum and it's 32 Days of '32 Fords exhibit, raising
more than $60,000. Michael signed and donated the Yamaha flamed
bass he played on the 2004 Van Halen tour which fetched $16,000
and Beck, Gibbons and Vaughn all donated signed Fender guitars
as well.
Adds
Michael, "Besides bashing it up for the '32 Ford's B-day,
it was a dream come true to be on stage jammin' with these
legendary guitar players! Truly something I'll always remember."
