Hot Rod Garage

Get an up close look at the sweet rides in Mad Anthony’s stable of hot rods that include a 1933 Hiboy Roadster, a 1940 Ford Convertible, a 1957 Chevy Nomad Wagon, a 1969 Shelby GT500 Mustang and a 2005 Ford GT.

1933 Hiboy Roadster

Originally built in 1994 by Hot Rods by Boyd, the 1933 Hiboy Roadster is one of my favorite hot rods in my stable.

In 1996, it was extensively re-worked and only the frame and Corvette suspension was left intact. She now sports a Corvette LS-1 motor with a 4L60E overdrive transmission for highway cruising. The Marcel hand-built steel body features hideaway tail lights and license plate as well as a milled chili pepper rear end cover.

The interior was totally redone and Headwinds Headlights and Bonspeed Wheels were also installed. I had to make sure to get iPod jacks on the Pioneer stereo system as well.

Let me tell you….this sucker moves!!!

Ragen’ 40

This 1940 Ford Convertible was built by Hot Rods by Boyd and features a steel body and fully independent suspension. Nicknamed “Ragen 40,”  (she was painted with Dupont’s Ragen Red) this beauty has been outfitted with a Chevy LT4 engine, a 700 R4 transmission, air conditioning, a heater and power everything!

Ragen 40 rides around on Bonspeed V8 wheels and the Pioneer stereo system features Michael Anthony custom built power amps by Precision Power.

1957 Chevy Nomad Wagon

When I was at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scotsdale, AZ in 2006, I found a car that I had been searching for a long time: the 1957 Chevy Nomad Wagon.

1969 Shelby GT500

This 1969 Shelby GT500 Convertible Mustang was purchased at the 2000 Barrett-Jackson Automotive Auction and belongs to Mad Anthony’s wife Sue.

There’s a 428 Cobra Jet engine under the hood along with an automatic transmission, disc brakes and air conditioning.

In early 2008, the Shelby went through a mild restoration by Gateway Classic Mustang in Bourbon, MO. Check out the finished project from this episode of Hot Rod Tv:

2005 Ford GT

The Ford GT is a car I’ve always admired and wanted. In 1966, the Ford GT 40 placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the 24 Hour of Le Mans. The Ford GT 40 went on to take top honors again in 1967, 1968 and 1969.

When I heard that Ford was putting out a limited edition model in 2003, I just had to get my hands on one!

After some schmoozing, the Ford execs put both Sammy and I on the list and in 2005 we each got one of these babies.

My GT has 656 horsepower 574.2 ft lbs of rear wheel torque. The lug nut studs had to be beefed up to prevent blowing off the wheels! Other modifications include upgrades to the supercharger and throttle body.
